Poor Little Laura Lou ....

I am finally able to update my blog after a crazy week. Laura has had a few "issues" that have made her not feel her best. Monday, Laura began acting like she was not feeling well. She ate a great lunch and then did not eat any dinner. I did not think too much about this. Tuesday when we were at preschool, Laura was telling the teacher that she was "so sad about Jessi not coming over." When I went to hug her, she was hot!! I thought, GREAT!! She was also complaining about her mouth hurting, so I thought, fever.....sore throat, must be strep. I took her to the doctor and she has nothing wrong other than a fever of 103. The doctor thought she may have a stomach problem since she was complaining of abdominal pain. The doctor told me if she has in change in her bowel movements to call. That evening, sure enough, she did. I called the doctor and he sent us to Scottish Rite. After a 3 hour wait, we finally saw the doctor. He said that since she was not in immediate distress, he sent us home and told us to follow up in the morning with a GI doctor to address her constipation problems. I called our pediatrician the next morning, and they sent us back to Scottish Rite for some testing that they SHOULD have done the night before. Everything appeared to be OK. She did not have any immediate issues (obstruction, perforation, tumor) that needed to be delt with. When we left, our regular doctor called and told us to call if she started vomiting. Sure enough, almost as if on cue, at 5am the next morning she began vomiting. I called the doctor...again. The doctor wanted us to go back to Scottish Rite. I told him that I would rather wait until the office opened and see our regular doctor instead of trying to recap a history with a totally new doctor that was not familiar with Laura. We went to our appointment around 12 noon. Laura was acting pretty strange. She was talking about things that were not in the room, and neither the doctor nor I could make out what she was talking about. And if you know Laura, she normally talks pretty well. So they sent her to Cobb Hospital to be admitted for dehydration. When we got there, they had to start an IV, which was very traumatic for Laura. Her blood work showed she was dehydrated which can cause the "crazy talk" she was doing. It is amazing was a little IV fluid can do for a person. She had perked up by the next day. The doctor decided to keep her another night supported on IV fluids before sending her home. By Saturday she had certainly perked up enough to come home.
Today, she has a follow up appointment today. They are then going to refer us to a GI doctor. I am just happy she is back to herself and that we are back at home. Mom and Dad told me that Laura is not allowed anymore problems until Justin is better!!! I think they may be getting tired!

Justin is Here and in NICU...

Baby Justin made his debut in the world at 11:46pm on September 14. He weighed 6lbs and 2oz, and is 18in. He looks like an Arwood. He was born at 36 weeks. His pulse ox was 47% and he was moved to NICU. No one is able to see him but his mom and dad. Heather is trying to hold it together as best she can right now. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers.

Also, I just found out that a friend of mine passed away at 12:40am. He had melanoma that had traveled to his brain. He is finally at peace with no more suffering. Please keep them in your prayers.

I will update soon!

Is that GOD?!?

At the preschool where I work Wednesday mornings are Chapel mornings, and this morning was the first day of chapel. All the children gathered around Mrs. Jenni as she explained what we would do in chapel. She talked about how we will be in God's house and that we should be quiet and listen to Pastor Chris. The children lined up so nicely and walked quietly to chapel. The church has a traditional, 50-year-old sanctuary with pews and stained glass windows. The children were so excited about doing something new, and eager to please the teachers. They were too cute. We started out by singing 3 of the traditional songs of church preschool. They are Jesus Loves Me, Deep and Wide, and He Has the Whole World in His Hands. (Hope those songs don't run through your head all day.) Next was Pastor Chris. He stood up and said, "Good Morning! Thank you for coming." The little boy sitting next to me asked, matter of factly, "Is that God!?!" How cute is that???? I said no, that is the Pastor. Pastor Chris continued talking about how God is everywhere--in our hearts and, even, in this room. The little boy sitting next to me began calling God. He cupped his little hand around his mouth and began looking around asking, "God....where are you?? God...where ARE you?" The two-year-old sitting in front of me was gazing at the stain glass picture of Jesus over the choir loft. He leaned toward his teacher and said, "Boy, Jesus sure is quiet." Sometimes children just say the cutest things.

Heather said I am not a good blogger....

So the other night at our Friday Family night, my sister informed me that I am not good at blogging because I do not keep it up to date! I guess there is some truth to that. :) I told her that I did not have anything to "blog" about, and she said "so make something up". To bad I am just not that creative. So instead, I will just give the facts.

Yesterday, Laura had her first official day of preschool. We drove into the parking lot, the same place I had been going for the last two weeks for pre-planning, and she saw people. Imagine that!! Other children were going to be at HER school!! I guess she did not think that other children were going to be there. I ended up having to drag her across the parking lot screaming and stomping her feet (MANY have seen this beautiful display of emotion). What a sight!! I thought I made a great first impression on all of the parents standing in the parking lot. I am sure they were thinking, "and she is going to watch our children???" I finally made it inside the building, and the director (my new boss) ended up taking her to her new class. Apparently as soon as she could not see me anymore, she stopped putting on her "show", and had a great day!

I also had my first official day of school with the new students!! They are too cute. I love hearing the children talk about their morning, watching them color, and observe them learning new social skills. Mrs. Jenni is awesome with the children and I look foward to watching their progress throughout the year. Who new 3 year old preschool would be so much fun!?!

Micah is continuing to love first grade. Mrs. Prewett is awesome. She has taken such an interest in Micah, as I am sure she has with all her students. She seems very loving and encouraging, while at the same time setting certain standards for the classroom. He also loves riding the bus!! I think that may be the best part of his day!

Zack has been at his job for 9 months now, and aside from the 3 horrible hours a day he spends on the road, he loves his job. He is so good at sales. He is just one of those people who is a natural. He is a fantastic husband. He is so loving and caring. He and I are still seeking God to find out what our calling is as husband and wife. Right now, we are just enjoying receiving wisdom and teaching from our family and friends to build a healthy, Godly marriage. We are so in love, and look forward to all the memories we will make as a family.

First Day of School!!!!!!!

Micah started 1st grade today. He woke up at 6 am with no problems at all!! I simply went into his room and laid down beside him and said,"that bus is going to come down the road and stop at our driveway", and without his eyes even open said, "and I then I get on it". He then opened his eyes and asked, "Is it morning now?". I then had to explain to him that he still an hour before the bus would get there. Micah got ready and we sat down around 6:45a to wait for the bus. The whole time my stomach had butterflies just wondering how he would do when it was really time to get on the bus. I just feared that there would be screaming and crying and pulling away, and then I had to worry how Micah would react too! (Just Kidding) Anyway, we talked about where his class was and rehearsed what to do if he got lost. I quizzed him on what to do with his school supplies for the teacher, how to meet new friends and where I would be when he got off the bus that afternoon. Then it was time to make the next step toward leaving....waiting on the front porch. All I had to say was, "I think we better..." and he was out the door. I then heard, "Why are you here?" Micah had opened the door to our loving grandmother sitting outside waiting to watch him climb on the bus. What a special treat! We went outside to wait. I made him suffer through a few pictures and then I heard the familiar sound of a school bus coming down the road. Micah and I walked up the driveway toward the bus. The bus doors opened to a friendly lady, with a beautiful smile, waiting to greet Micah. Micah climbed up the stairs without a fear or hesitation. I tried to snap a few pictures without him noticing. Then the doors closed behind him, and my heart sank. I turned to go down the driveway, only to notice that Grandma had teared up herself. She and I sat there on the steps just feeling like it was only yesterday that we were living at her house in Dacula when his was first born. What special memories she and I have had the opportunity to share over the 6 years of Micah's life.

My day continued with Laura and I feeling a little bored. But, I could not help but think about what Micah was doing and what he was feeling. Micah's day went off without a hitch and his bus pulled up at 2:55p. When the doors opened off hopped a very accomplished little man. So needless to say, Micah had a great day.

The first four pictures are in the morning, the last is this afternoon.

Last Day of Summer!!!

Today was the last day of summer vacation for the kids. Zack and I wanted to make the most of it for Micah, especially since I was sick all weekend! I really hate allergies. Anyway, this afternoon I made myself perk up and we took the kids to the park. Laura and Micah enjoyed swinging, running, and climbing. I realized when Micah made a friend at the park after being there for only 3 minutes, that he would be fine at his new school. Laura is really a Daddy's girl. She will play with Mommy, but when it comes down to it, she knows that Daddy is more fun!! After we played, we had a picnic dinner and then ate ice cream at Sonic. I think that Daddy enjoyed it the most!! Anyway, after our afternoon of fun, we came home and got ready of the first day of school. Look for another post tomorrow for Micah's first day of school!!!

We Met Micah's Teacher

Well, I have to say that after much hesitation, I feel very confident with Micah's teacher. She seems very calm and reassuring, even to a crazy mom and protective Nana!!! She calmed all of our fears, Micah does not even seem to be nervous at all! I think that me and Nana are the only ones that are nermous (a family "word" coined by, Jonathan). Micah has even stated that he wants to ride the bus. I feel like he is starting school for the first time!
